So any Windows box can be quickly owned when the computer is
equipped with a Firewire (IEEE 1394) port. I tried to reproduce the attacks by carefully following online guides, but it proved much more difficult than it seemed.
In my work environment, I couldn't find any workstation equipped with a 6-pin 1394 port, and I only had two types of Firewire cables: 4-pin to 6-pin and 6-pin to 6-pin. Laptops ar…

In their paper, Practical attacks against WEP and WPAPDF, Martin Beck and Erik Tews have published details about their attacks on WPA secured networks. The attack is essentially a variant of the chopchop attack used against WEP secured networks, which surfaced in early 2005. The name "chopchop attack" is a nod to the KoreK-developed chopchop tool, which allows the user to decrypt an arbitrary encrypted data packet without having to know the WEP key.

To begin with this blog will probably not appeal to black hats purely because it is to do with disclosing security weaknesses and flaws. I dont side with either disclosure or non-disclosure as the argument for and against is very compelling.
The blog below belongs to Dan Kaminsky who was one of the researchers to discover a serious flaw in DNS. In his blog Dan talks about creating a 'council' to assess the seriousness of flaws and how they should be disclosed to the public. This would probably…

I have always told my friends that it's dangerous to put personal information on MySpace and, well, basically any online profile. I proved that 2 nights ago to one of my buddies. He asked me what got me started on hacking and had a few other questions about methods and such. While we were talking, I was able to gain access to several of his accounts.
While I already knew a lot of personal information since he is my friend, I was able to show him my sources on various profiles I was abl

About the google chrome browser. I've been looking around for a while and have a theory about it.
Although the beta version looks very promising and has dozens of new features especially concentrating on privacy and security, the software is still in the beta version. Meaning that there are lots of bugs and issues. When it comes to browsers, i think it's a very high risk to try something insecure or that's my opinion. I know some of you might think I'm paranoid!, but I believe that nowadays, br…
