I am a Systems Analyst and (occasional) IT Consultant working in Austin, Texas USA. I am currently endeavoring to enter the Information Security field to both expand my knowledge of the overall IT spectrum and help fill the consistent and growing need for InfoSec professionals and Ethical Hackers. I am blessed/cursed with an insatiable appetite for knowledge, which often times gets me in over my head, and greatly enjoy the challenges that come with that intellectual hunger.
I have been a 'power-user' in computers and a programmer since age 10, when I got my first computer (DOS 6.1, BASIC and a 56k modem), and have never really let that slide much. I currently hold an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Computer Network Systems and plan on returning to school for a Bachelors degree in Information Systems Security, hopfully by the start of 2009.
I am rather fresh on the scene (well the IT/IS scene, at least), having less than a year of (professional) experience, but am planning on a Security+ certification by the end of this year. I am also working and studying towards the C|EH and CISSP, but that will take 2-5 years, so I have time to further develop my skill sets in many areas.
So, that's pretty much it. I am new, but everyone needs to start somewhere, right?
Current Study Focus(es): Cryptography; Reverse Engineering; C; Perl & Blackjacking

I agree whit what some of them say about CISSP, although it is still good to have under your belt indeed. I have provided you a link to a presentation on how to pass this cert maybe it will help.... check it

Thanks man! that was really helpful, makes a lot of sense too. The google hax you mentioned, how is that going for you ? (how does that work, and what is it?) I find what you said, awesome for the most part.
CISSP used to be the big cert to get, but it's reputation seems to be dying. People always say it's a mile wide and a foot deep. CISA seems to be the one to get now. Much more specialized toward auditing and pen testing.
