I am seeking any basic hacks that can be used in the Linux shell for privilege escalation or denial of service. Information you have on this does not necessarily need to be source code of software. Concepts and ideas are just as welcome.

Hello word!
I use backtrack, ubuntu and "mint linux" when it is not my computer (live cd, ubuntu like, with codecs)
gnome and command line, (sometimes kde, on backtrack for example)
