House of Hackers

Welcome

Welcome to the Australian IT "House of Hackers" group page - hopefully this can be an interesting collaberation between Australian hackers, IT software and hardware professionals, consumers & special interest groups alike. I encourage anybody from Australia to join the group, as hopefully we can get a decent community effort put forth here. As many know, the "hacker" community in Australia is fairly non-existant as far as localities, although many of us exist. Hopefully this group will be able to showcase some talent and insight, as well as giving industry as well as individuals a chance to find certified and innovative individuals pertaining to their needs in infosec & IT.

Please take some time to read through the discussion forum and contribute, whether it be with your own news posting or mirror, your take on current issues within the IT/Tech world, or even with Australia itself, or whether it be with insightful and useful replies and commentary on others' posts. I will try to keep the forum somewhat clean and of a high quality whilst staying on-topic to whatever is being discussed - please remember that the forum is a place of free communication, and as such you are not limited to any one of avenue of response or contribution - be creative! Post up your new findings on a certain vulnerability, your new application, your new design, your recent security story, current jobs, jobs you're looking for, jobs you need to fill, a new technology released, new research, good mirrors and information, etc! Enjoy the forum and use it well to collaborate as an effective whole ;)

I'm afraid I'm unable to help you in that field, especially in Brisbane. Your best bet would be to search http://www.seek.com.au and http://www.jobreel.com.au/jobs and try and find something similar to what you are looking for. Seek has huge listings of IT jobs available in all states, and Brisbane is pretty big into IT. Good luck mate, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I am at the moment doing an Hons in digital forensics at Univ. of Cape Town. After 22 years in the IT business (I have a company of 12 staff which specialised in Accpac Accountign/custom development and networking) as a developer, systems analyst, network engineer etc. and MD, I need to know how to start looking for a placement. Preferably in the Forensic type environment.

I'm personally from Canberra, but have family in Brisbane, and I'm sure there are a few of em (Brisbane-siders) here - what do you mean by advice? As in where to live, IT occupations in the area, etc?

I'm about to immigrate to Ausralia (to Brisbane). Can anyone here give me some advice?

Had to remove my stylesheet, due to the new, retarded style PDP decided to force up.. Title is now too large also, don't really give a fuck, I will change it if necessary. Hopefully this template is shot-lived, otherwise I'm just going to overwrite everything manually. Too busy working to do so atm, and the effort required to rewrite ning's css doesn't meet the rewards for doing so, with only 12 members currently in the group ;) will get around to it tho.
