House of Hackers

I take a Computer Engineering class in my highschool, and our awesome teacher has given us an awesome networking security project.

The goal is to hack into our classmate's computers and extract a file out of their "My Documents" folder, through a simple small network, using "any means necessary", aka: we have permission to use password hackers, firewall blockers, worms, viruses et era (as long as we dont break the hardware).

I would GREATLY appreciate advice and opinions on the best way to go about this intrusion and extraction, such as method and software recommendations.

p.s.
i am going to install COMODOS firewall on my computer to help evade my classmates, good idea bad idea? (i am also using avast AV, we arent allowed to use AVG)

if u on a network, try using a sniffer to get their username and password, or the administrators :P . it sounds like they are windows computers, so i would suggest a program called cain and abel, its perfect for such hacks, it may not do the job alone but may help you significantly.

yeah use backtrack your best bet also you are going to need to A LOT of reading since backtrack 2 and 3 which is in its beta version offer over 300 utilities so if you are planning to use it better get ready to read a lot of content.

ill look it up

id rather not have my teacher fired so Ill keep the school annonymous lol

I smell.. Social Engineering in play. You all are assisting a High school student who may use this information for unethical purposes.

ha we studied that, but no its just for this project.

We even set up our own network thats not connected to the school's network or server so that we would not do any real damage

These computers are built by us at the beginning of the semester, and we wipe them clean and disassemble at the end of the semester.

I am currently studying in a degree in Information System Security. All of my classes seems to focus on programing and the basics of security. I have to take a 3 year break from my classes (job related) but I plan on doing some "off term" research during that time. The Backtrack seems like a good thing to research. I want to keep the "evil" ones at bay and learn how to use "good" techniques to create a form of offensive security system. Hope you did well in your course BTW.

Heh that was my first thought as well.

He states below that studying network security eventually will teach him these things anyway. WRONG.. you dont learn hacking when taking class. There are things you only learn on the street.

But that aside. No frankly i do not belive a teacher would give that kind of assignment.

I realize now that even though this forum was presented on a Danish news site for IT professionals as a serious hackers forum, This is little more than the neworder site.

I once tried setting up a similar task at a small network. I had nothing scripted in advance so it took alot longer to set up. My guess we were at least 10 minutes of taking full and unrestricted control of a remote PC..
And I mean UNRESTRICTED.. nothing was denied. Even more control of a remote host than a user sitting at the target would actually have had.

However im not sure if that particular way still is unpatched.

To solve this particular task nowadays I'd go for a rxbot and extract its exploit. Ofcourse you'd have to get a very recent bot to work around most AV programs as well as FW's.
