House of Hackers

I take a Computer Engineering class in my highschool, and our awesome teacher has given us an awesome networking security project.

The goal is to hack into our classmate's computers and extract a file out of their "My Documents" folder, through a simple small network, using "any means necessary", aka: we have permission to use password hackers, firewall blockers, worms, viruses et era (as long as we dont break the hardware).

I would GREATLY appreciate advice and opinions on the best way to go about this intrusion and extraction, such as method and software recommendations.

p.s.
i am going to install COMODOS firewall on my computer to help evade my classmates, good idea bad idea? (i am also using avast AV, we arent allowed to use AVG)

for the firewall, install zone alarm pro and set it to nervous-issim :P
All the tentatives will pop you and you'll be able to allow or deny it :P
that's the defence thing..

but for the attack, don't know how to help you... sorry

Advice : take a look on the discussions in the group Student h4x0r. some people left tools and documentation about hacking.

Do you know if the admin share on these computers is accessible if so its a two second entry and very simple i am assuming they might be if one of your classmates didnt secure it automatically
Do you know how to get into the admin share

Also assuming this is a networked machine and windows 2000 or later

\\192.168.xx.xx\c$ is an example
Then the only issue would be getting there password off the DC if you run into a problem logging onto that machine?

What kind of credentials does your account have?

Do you have any Linux experience? If so kamayutak makes a great point, use backtrack. You said "small network", is that hacking via remote only? Do you have physical access to the systems or are you only allows to try remote exploits?

Yeah if I could I would just run Knoppix live linux to get the files

but no it has to be remote access

Who locked down the systems previously the teacher or students?
I left some instructions above see them for admin shares and send me a message or comment my page and ill walk you through this

How much experience do you (and your classmates) have in all of this? Can you describe the type of network that the computers are on? Is it switched? Are you all on the same subnet? How long is this project?

There are a lot of things to consider. This is not an easy project if you have no experience and are not allowed physical access to the target machines.

we have until wedsday (three days in which we are allowed to do anything besides install)

I have alot of general computer knowledge, like I can build/repair one no sweat, but I am new to hacking so I need to try and keep it basic.

All four are hooked into a fast ethernet switch, and I assume we are on the same subnet
